L4D2 Trailer

Wow, I have to admit that this trailer is pretty epic. It looks less like a trailer for a game and more of one for a movie.

Warning: Not for the faint-hearted*

*Or as I like to refer to them as, "Pansies"

How To Survive a Zombie Apocalypse

It looks like the How-To YouTube channel, VideoJug, has gotten into the Halloween spirit and made a tongue in cheek video on how to survive a zombie apocalypse.

Sure, it's technically not gaming. However, if you look closely around 4:57 (right when the elevator opens), you'll notice a zombie with a Wiimote. I take it the undead like to play video games.

Take a Look At a Hands-On of Left 4 Dead 2

GameSpy recently had an exclusive Hands-On of Left 4 Dead 2's level, Swamp. One of the improvements upon Left 4 Dead 2 is the inclusion of "Common-Uncommons", or special common zombies. The special common zombies seen the Hands-On were a kind that could walk on all fours, run significantly faster than others, and go undetected in the bayou, which is sure to make players watch the waters like crazy.

Stay tuned (or whatever the correct term for a blog would be) later on this week, as I will also be demoing Left 4 Dead 2 at the San Diego Comic Con.

Plants Vs. Zombies

First of all, I'm sorry for not posting as much. Right now I don't have any underrated games that I can review without a T.V. recording device, so I'm just gonna review a game I thought was pretty good.

Plants Vs. Zombies
The first thing you discover about the game is visible even before you install it. It is one of the most unique games of modern gaming. The next thing you notice is that it's made by PopCap, a company known mostly for casual games. Now, onto the gameplay.

If one were to generalize this game as one type of game, most people would call it a tower defense game, but at the same time, it's sorta, not. You have five rows of lawn (or whatever else the game gives you) on which to plant your army. You start out with simple weapons, weak peashooters, wall-nuts which serve as barriers, and sunflowers, which give you sun, the currency for planting plants. as you play the game, you unlock more complicated and powerful plants.

The game is split into five chapters, each comprised of 9 levels, and a minigame. The levels are never too hard to overcome, but you still can fail if you're reckless. Each level is just long enough to be satisfying, but not long enough to be exhausting. Every level also has a set-up time of around 30 seconds, and then continuous zombies with 2 or 3 massive waves, the last being the biggest.

While the main campaign is not very long, (2 or 3 hours) after you fight the final boss, you get minigames, a zen garden, puzzle mode and survival. and you can start the adventure mode again, but your neighbor Crazy Dave, picks out 3 plants that you must use for that level.

Overall, this game definitely makes the $10.00 worth it, with lots of replay value, addictive gameplay, and a distinct personality that is guaranteed to make you laugh.

Fear the Pan!

Love it or hate it, Left 4 Dead 2 is coming out. Valve has given out some gameplay footage from it, and I'd have to say it's really interesting. I'm starting to take back my mild disdain of it. Why? Two simple words: Fire Bullets.

Come on! Any game that lets you not only shoot zombies, but also light them on fire at the same time has to be awesome.

It's also got zombies in Hazmat suits. The thing that's got me about that is - how do they bite you? Yeah, I know the zombies in the Left 4 Dead series aren't the type that want to eat your flesh, but the kind that just want to beat the stuffing out of you. But anyways, I kinda find it funny for the zombies to run around awkwardly in the suits, along with sticking out like a sore thumb from the rest of them.

But enough of me babbling on, here's the video
